Burnham makes pledge at Labour Party conference
Hospital parking charges for in-patients in England will be phased out if Labour wins the next general election, health secretary Andy Burnham has announced.
Patients would get a permit to cover the length of their stay, which visitors could use for free, Burnham told the Labour Party conference in Brighton last month. He said the last thing people visiting hospital wanted to worry about was keeping their car parking ticket up to date.
