Clampers’ high fees on private land are ‘illegal’, argues RAC
Clamping vehicles on private land and demanding a “punitive release fee” is illegal and damaging to society, according to a new report for the RAC Foundation.
Author Dr Chris Elliott, an engineer and barrister, said: “The fees charged to release a clamp bear no relation to the damage suffered by the landowner and are in effect a punishment imposed on one individual by another — an action that seems contrary to proper rule of law.”
