Motorbike patrols enforce school parking in Thanet

Patrick McDonnell

Motorcycle patrols are being used to clamp down on drivers who illegally park outside schools in east Kent.

The initiative is a joint venture between Kent County Council and Thanet District Council to make areas outside schools safer during the put-down and pick-up peak periods.

The patrol is being funded by the county council and operated by a member of the district council’s parking team. Motorists found illegally parking outside schools risk a £70 fixed penalty fine.
