Basildon impounds over 50 unlicensed cars

Basildon council has impounded almost 60 untaxed vehicles over the past two months.

The Essex council has been working with the DVLA to target drivers who refuse to tax their vehicles, resulting in 58 cars being impounded since 1 September.

It comes after the council hired Redcorn Ltd - a specialist company contracted by the DVLA to track down and tow away untaxed vehicles.

Redrow has been carrying out sweeps alongside the council’s own parking attendants and environmental enforcement...
