DfT scraps nationwide c-charge plan
The Department for Transport is seeking alternative ways to tackle road congestion after dropping proposals for a nationwide road-charging scheme.
Transport Secretary Ruth Kelly ruled out introducing a road-charging scheme “for many years”. However, she has refused to rule out a road-pricing scheme in the future. The government is providing a further four years of funding for local road pricing pilot schemes.
