Stagecoach targets Megabus growth with resources from 800-vehicle Coach USA buy back

Stagecoach has agreed a deal which will increase the number of vehicles it operates in North America by over 40% to 2,700. It involves the acquisition of nine companies with 800 vehicles from Coach America, which is currently operating under Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection. Seven of the companies were previously owned by Stagecoach following its ill-fated acquisition of Coach USA in 1999, but were sold prior to 2006 during the major restructuring and retrenchment programme.
