Intercity train fleet plans are put on ice
Procurement Plans for a new fleet of intercity express trains appear to be on the brink of collapse after transport secretary Lord Adonis announced the suspension of the programme in the run up to the forthcoming general election.
Adonis has also announced an inquiry into the cost effectiveness of the plans, a move that many within the industry speculate could kill the programme.
