Rail demand is growing

October 22

Growth in demand for rail travel during the summer months has risen to levels witnessed on only a handful of occasions in the last decade, according to new analysis.

The figures from the Association of Train Operating Companies show that passenger journeys grew by 8% in Quarter 3 of the calendar year of 2010 when compared to the same period last year. From late June to late September there were 298.6 million journeys on the railways compared to 276.4 million in the same period in 2009.
