MPs urge delay on West Coast deal and warn against repeating "past failures"
MPs want to see that the DfT has "learnt the lessons from past failures to secure value-for-money" from rail franchises prior to signing the West Coast Mainline deal.
The transport select committee chair Louise Ellman asked the DfT to hold off from signing the deal before MPs have a chance to scrutinise it first in the interests of "transparency".
