Transport for Greater Manchester to deliver joint permit scheme
Ministers have approved a joint permit scheme for Greater Manchester which will be the first to be run by a central body rather than individual councils.
The minister for local transport, Norman Baker, said that by using a shared service centre hosted by Transport for Greater Manchester to administer England's latest permit scheme, this would both reduce costs and provide greater consistency for utility companies.
