National Express eyes expansion

National Express Group has pre-qualified for its first German rail franchise, and is planning a programme of bids over the next year. NEG said the contract was a similar size to its c2c operation in the UK. The company is currently the only major UK transport group eyeing rail opportunities in Europe and has used German market knowledge acquired through its Eurolines coach business to assess opportunities. It is planning to use its Alsa coach business in a similar way to prepare for rail bids...
