Ministers give Core Cities freedom to manage their LSTF spending

England’s core cities have welcomed the Government’s decision to give them more flexibility in spending their Local Sustainable Transport Fund (LSTF) cash. But other councils have asked why they can’t be given the same flexibility too.

Last July transport minister Norman Baker awarded £155.5m of funding to 39 proposals in the first tranche of the £560m LSTF. Funding was to be allocated to projects on an annual basis over four years.
