New drug driving offence
A new offence of driving under the influence of drugs was announced this week in the Queen’s Speech. The legislation will create a specific offence for drivers having certain controlled drugs in their body in excess of specified limits. Devices to screen for drugs in the body are expected to receive type approval from the Home Office by the end of the year.
