A dilemma facing any business or government at present is which technologies to back.

In some instances, innovation and progress can move so rapidly as to be almost bewildering. Information technology and ticketing is a prime example. Three years ago mobile barcode ticketing was cutting edge.  Already it appears likely to be overtaken by contactless bankcard ticketing.
