Network Rail electrifies in NW
J Murphy & Sons and Siemens Smart Grid, Rail Electrification, have won a £5m ‘north-west electrification phase one’ traction power supply contract with Network Rail.
The two companies will collaborate on the installation of two new substations at the Newton Le Willows and Ordsall Lane junctions. The 77-week contract covers the construction of two substation compounds at the junctions, as well as associated civil engineering works.
