Bike hire ‘won’t be right for every town’
Councils must think carefully about the objectives of a cycle hire scheme before committing to implement one, the chairman of Cycling England has warned.
Phillip Darnton told the Scottish Parliament last week that cycle hire schemes could be “extremely expensive”, citing Boris Johnson’s central London bike hire scheme that has implementation costs of £91.6m.
