A number of local authorities in the south-east of England have commissioned star ratings of their A road networks in order to identify investment priorities to improve safety.
Road Safety Foundation director Joanne Hill would not divulge the authorities’ names but said the work is focusing on A roads and a small number of B roads.
Hill said the Foundation was currently accrediting companies to conduct the road surveys.
