Build an extra two runways at Heathrow, says Tory think-tank
TWO NEW runways may be needed to meet growing passenger demand at Heathrow Airport, according to a group of Tory MPs. Their suggestion came as the DfT accepted the need for new airport capacity in the South East but put off a consultation on the topic until the autumn.
The Free Enterprise Group of Tory MPs said a fourth runway could be built either north of the airport beside the M4 or south of the airport on land currently occupied by the villages of Stanwell and Bedfont.
