Johnson champions Stansted second runway
The debate about South East airport capacity took another twist this week with Boris Johnson throwing his weight behind a second runway at Stansted.
London’s mayor said a second runway there would help the short-term capacity problems before his favoured long-term solution of a new hub airport is constructed.
The DfT is expected to publish its aviation policy framework consultation before the end of July, though it could be delayed until the autumn.
