Bath lorry ban opponents hope for last-minute DfT intervention

Opponents  of a plan to ban heavy lorries from a key route across Bath are hoping transport secretary Justine Greening will intervene before the trial is implemented.

Bath & North East Somerset Council (BANES) plans to place an 18 tonne weight limit on Cleveland bridge in the city, a move that will effectively prohibit heavy goods vehicles from using the A36/A46 north/south trunk road as a through route (LTT 23 Sep 11).
