Bristol authorities work up plans to enhance local rail network
Local authorities in Greater Bristol have outlined ambitions for rail to play a bigger part in meeting the area’s travel needs.
The Greater Bristol Metro plan would see rail services enhanced in two phases. The disused line to Portishead in North Somerset would re-open to passenger services in phase 1, for delivery between 2013 and 2018, with a half-hourly service to Bristol Temple Meads and one train an hour continuing to Severn Beach.
