New traffic signals for trams unveiled

Siemens new tram signals have been installed on Blackpool’s refurbished tram network

Traffic technology company Siemens has launched a new generation of signal heads specifically designed and built for tram operations. Based on the company’s existing range of Helios Extra Low Voltage (ELV) traffic signals, the new ELV tram signal is fully compatible with the company’s ST900 ELV controller, Siemens says, and has been designed to have very low power consumption and hence reduced energy costs.
