Cities probe how to raise more funds for services locally

Three of Britain’s biggest cities have launched a public investigation into the case for councils to raise more of their own income.

Birmingham, Manchester and Westminster councils have launched a review that will consider ways that local government can become less reliant on Government grant. The findings will inform the Government's review of lcoal government finance that is due to report in the summer.
