Six South East councils draw up plans for highway alliance

Six South East England authorities are drawing up a new regional joint contract for planning and delivering all local transport projects over £500,000 in order to make efficiency savings.

However, Surrey County Council officers told the authority’s cabinet this week that it would take six years to get the regional contract in place, so a phased approach will be necessary. The SE6 Alliance councils – Kent, East and West Sussex, Surrey Medway, and Brighton & Hove councils...
