‘Fund public transport to avert oil ‘crunch’’

The Government must protect public transport spending to ensure that Britain’s transport system can cope with steep rises in oil prices, an industry task force has said.

“The era of cheap oil is behind us,” says the Industry Taskforce on Peak Oil and Energy Security, including engineering consultant Arup, and public transport operators Stagecoach and Virgin.
