‘More cycle cash won’t guarantee more cycling’
Scottish Transport minister Stewart Stevenson appears to have ruled out a major increase in spending on cycling, telling MSPs that investment so far has shown only patchy success.
Stevenson said cycling investment in 2008 by Scotland’s 32 councils ranged from a low of just 8p per capita (in Midlothian) to £1.35. But he said that there seemed to be “no identifiable relationship between outcomes and expenditure”.
